Chris & Claire Sandys
Hosts of The Silent Why · Grief ministry & hope
Chris & Claire Sandys are the hosts and creators of The Silent Why, a podcast dedicated to exploring grief, loss, and the search for hope across 101 different life experiences.
Married since 2005 and based near the Cotswolds in England, Chris and Claire came to grief ministry through their own personal journey of involuntary childlessness—a quiet, enduring loss that reshaped their view of suffering, healing, and faith. Rather than letting grief close them off, they turned their experience into a platform for connection, asking a question that lies at the heart of their work: Is it possible to find genuine hope and joy in every kind of loss, or are some burdens simply too heavy?
Through The Silent Why, Chris and Claire sit down with people from all walks of life—from murder detectives and first responders to individuals navigating chronic illness, displacement, and hidden loss—to shed light on the often unspoken corners of human pain. Their interview with the Police Chaplain Project highlighted the profound parallels between grief support in law enforcement and the broader journey of recovery, emphasizing that loss isn't limited to bereavement and that processing trauma requires patience, community, and presence.
Grounded in authenticity, warmth, and a refusal to offer superficial cliches, Chris and Claire continue to cultivate a space where first responders, caregivers, and everyday people can confront hard truths, honor their grief, and discover resilience on the other side.
