Insights in the Police Chaplain Project
In his archival interview recorded for the Police Chaplain Project, Flatt added his wisdom to the repository by addressing the legislative and operational realities of officer survival:
Sustainable Funding for Tactical Training: Stressing that effective de-escalation and crisis resolution require consistent, institutionalized state funding rather than temporary or unfunded mandates.
Holistic Wellness & Physical Readiness: Highlighting that mental health, peer support, and physical fitness are inseparable pillars of long-term career survival and family stability.
Realistic Legislative Policy: Calling on lawmakers to establish attainable statutory goals that genuinely support frontline law enforcement agencies in protecting their officers and communities.
