We are ChaplainUSA, a non-profit that provides educational content to chaplains. (A chaplain is someone who offers support for someone in distress – police departments, hospitals, the military all have chaplains.)
There is a ton of information out there for chaplains – new ways to treat PTSD, stress, grief, depression.
The problem is chaplains are really, really busy.
For instance, they probably missed a recent report in the NYTimes about how services dogs have proven to be an effective way to help soldiers cope with PTSD.
It was a terrific article and a great idea that every chaplain should know more about, but few probably saw it or had the time to read it.
That’s where ChaplainUSA.org comes in. Our job is to find that kind of information and turn it into a Chaplain Summary.
What is a Chaplain Summary?
A Chaplain Summary is an approx. 600 word brief. It highlights the core information, provides the key takeaways and provides a clear call to action that offers chaplains a way to learn more.
[We always cite the source material and provide links to relevant content and organizations mentioned in the summary. Articles to be summarized will be assigned.]
Style Guide
Keep the writing conversational and direct. Chaplains are a practicable bunch, they're looking for information they can use on the job.
Make the Summary easy to scan and digest, using sub-heads and bullet points to break the info into sections.
Make a Difference
